Last year was the first time I didn't vote in a UK general election. I just didn't want to vote for the least worst candidate, so I opted out altogether. And it seems the vast majority of the electorate did the same with a Labour victory happening on the smallest of turnouts, which isn't a mandate but a shoulder shrug, raise of the eyebrows and a sigh.

I'm not a fan of Trump, I'm not a fan of any politician or political party, but I pay attention to the rhetoric on all sides and I've noticed that change is hardest when it challenges our personal shibboleths. Trump will do things wrong and badly, but he will also do things right and well just like any political leader, but which of those actions we think is bad and wrong, or right and good depends, like everything else, on our preconceived expectations about how the world should be.

Great piece (and kudos for avoiding the temptation of putting a subscription link after the penultimate paragraph!).

Will write more extensively on their ideologies, or lack of a coherent one, soon. As a teaser: I’m not surprised the $500bn Stargate project came with another big figure — 100,000 jobs. Trump loves jobs, and stock market highs, that’s why he likes Tim Cook. The Apple boss onshored lots of jobs to the US after Trump spoke to him. Andreessen, Zuck and Musk can all bemoan the App Store and it’s big tariffs, but that’s my litmus test for the Trump administration. Will we actually get more competitive markets and decentralisation? I doubt it because for Trump it’s all about…jobs!

Sorry Nick but you just don't get it. Donald Trump is a force of nature and he is 1000 times smarter than most of us including you. And you accused Donald Trump of doing stupid stuff I'm sorry but you are sitting on the stupid stuck on stubborn saying the same old stuff and helping others like you commit slow organizational suicide.

The last four years in America under liberal progressive really has ruined things for so many people and millions of people from Afghanistan to Ukraine to Gaza and other situation's are dead that would not have been if Trump had been in charge of things. There are many other things that I could say but you were too long and I'm gonna be too short... I used to take you seriously and even subscribed but I stopped and now I don't take you seriously anymore.

Sorry for you. Always sad to see a good mine go to waste.

May you be blessed,

Stan
